### WARNING: At the end of the coming week (i.e., the third week of the course), you will be assigned the first set of homework problems, to be returned after seven days. For numerical examples of the first set of homework problems you can refer to the exercises in [4] Chapters 6,9,10 and 11.
SHORT ADDITIONAL COURSE ON ELECTRIC POWER SYSTEMS In order to define the minimum contents of a short additional course on
electric power systems (managed on a voluntary basis by the lecturer and
not mandatory for students), next Monday you will be asked to answer a
set of questions that aims to establish your basic knowledge. The replacement/additional lectures will be held every Tuesday starting from 10 October (Time: 14:00 - 17:00) at the “Calculation laboratory” of
the “Electrical Engineering Section” located in Via
delle sette sale 12/b. On the "Learning Materials" page the following lecture notes have been published:
### WARNING: I suggest you to read the comments on the last 14 slides before the next lecture on Monday 2nd October. The following lecture has been published:
A link to a textbook on power system basics
has been introduced as Reference in the Prerequisites section. This
textbook, even if it is composed of a large number of pages (more
than 600), actually deals with topics of interest in a very simple
way and the theory is developed through a small number of pages. In
fact, most of the pages are applications numerically solved or
topics studied in depth The Calendar of lectures has been updated. FIRST COMMUNICATION In order to solve the problem of the complete absence of knowledges on electrical power systems, I am organizing, with the support of my collaborator Prof. Marco Maccioni, a tutoring activity. By means of several lectures, some substitutive ones (that is, held during the assigned class time) and some integrative ones (that is, held in addition to the assigned class time), we will try to fill the gaps on the electric power systems that could inhibit the learning of basic concepts of this course on Smart Grids. This will obviously require an additional effort on your part, but also on our part, which will be absolutely voluntary for both sides. Days and hours will be agreed in such a way that everyone can participate to these additional activities. Information on supplementary activities will be made available as soon as possible, and they will be published in a new section specifically created on the course's institutional website and named Tutoring activity. Addition lectures will be held at the “Calculation laboratory” of the “Electrical Engineering Section” located in Via delle sette sale 12/b. SECOND COMMUNICATION In order to make the sixth lesson of the course more comprehensible and fruitful, in which the TERNA engineering manager Francesco Paolone, with regard to stations and transmission lines, will hold a seminar on transmission stations and primary substations, I suggest that you read, in the textbook "Principles of Power System", chapters from 19 to 26, except 20; obviously, only the part of theory must be read, while numerical applications and in-depth studies may be neglected. Updated versions of the following lectrures have been published:
